LONELINESS

Loneliness met me this morning
Depression then knocked at the door
Pressures of life soon had bound me
Leaving me helpless once more.

Life has its fears and deep sorrow
No one escapes from its grip
Everyone carries some burden
Thinking they'll fall in a pit.

Your not alone in this battle
Scripture reminds us each day
Trials and troubles surround us
Only what's left is to pray.

So in the face of each trial
Give God the burden you bear
He knows each rut in the pathway
Cast on the Lord all your care.

HIDDEN GRIEF

Lonely the valley where sorrows reside
Emptiness lingers with darkness inside
Light that once shone from the heaven's above
Leave only phantoms once flowing with love.

Where is the joy that once brightened my day
Who is the thief that has painted life gray?
Silence and sadness have torn it apart
No one can fathom the grief in my heart!

Distractions in time are so often a pain
Vacations and parties are transient and vain
The promise is given and vict'ry is won
When faith reaches up to the God three in One.

Jesus has borne all our grief and its loss
There is no burden His love cannot cross
Take up His yoke that is easy to bare
Resting in Him will remove all your care.

A LONGING FULFILLED

In a world of noise and clamor
From the voices that distract
Comes a quiet desperation
To find peace that really lasts!

War and violence, death and sorrow
Broken dreams and aching hearts
Little hope for our tomorrow
In a world all torn apart.

Feeling lonely midst this madness
Thinking stuff will gratify
Longing for a joy and gladness
That can truly satisfy?

Jesus offers Living Water
That will quench your thirst each day
Call in faith, receive His promise
Fully trust Him and obey.

ECHOES FROM THE PAST

It seems like yesterday you said goodbye
I sit today alone and wonder why?
I live in memories from the past
As muffled echoes that don't last.

What lured your absence from my sight
Was it a phantom-dream you saw one night?
You heard the love beat in my heart
The promise we would never part!

I'm blowing kisses that may find their place
In memories of your tender, strong embrace
If echoes reach life's distant shore
Come home, be mine for evermore.

TEARS

What have I done that tears should come my way
That sorrow's piercing sword should crush my soul
With hidden fears that trouble me today
And leave me helpless, torn, too weak to pray?

Death struck and buried all my hopes and dreams
The light of day has turned to darkest night
And memory past no longer whispers peace
But only haunting echoes are released!

The grave that stole the joy within my heart
And left tomorrows hopes all torn apart
Cries out in loneliness and deep despair
To hear some promise of God's love and care.

The One Who sees each tear fall from our eyes
Was wounded for our sins and crucified
He conquered death to set the captive free
And through His Name we claim the victory!

HOME AT LAST

The clock of time that filled our days
With gifts of pain combined with praise
Were heaven's thorns to lead our path
To where sweet flowers always last.

Dear grieving loved ones left on shore
The home we've loved, we've traded for
The sounds and sights beyond compare
A place our Savior planned with care.

We heard the songs the angels sing
We felt the stirring of their wings
I wish you could have seen that sight
While heading Home, our upward flight!

We saw the lights within the Gate
The call to come! we could not wait!
For in the endless arms of grace
We felt a welcome to that Place.

The curse of death has been removed
All tears have ceased to flow today
Now in the presence of the King
We have no need for anything.

HIDDEN GRIEF

How lonely the valley where sorrows reside

Where emptiness lingers with darkness inside

The light that once shone from the heaven's above

Is nothing but shadows once flowing with love.

Where is the joy that would brighten each day

Who is the thief that has painted life gray?

Silence and sadness have torn it apart

No one can fathom the grief in my heart!

Distractions in time are so often a pain

Vacations and parties seem also in vain

The promise is given and vict'ry is won

When faith reaches up to the God three in One.

Jesus has borne all our grief and its loss

There is no chasm His love cannot cross

Take up His yoke that is easy to bare

Resting in Him will remove all your care.

STORM-FILLED DAYS

Stormy clouds of doubt engulf me
Threat'ning fears disturb my rest
This frail vessel will not make it
Trying hard to do my best!

Loneliness is my companion
No one seems to understand
Even friends show disappointment
When I fail to take their hand.

Death has left me tears and sorrow
Only echoes can be heard
For the touch that once embraced me
Has flown skyward like a bird!

Is there balm for wounded soldier's
That can mend a troubled heart
Can the Great Physician heal me
So I do not fall apart?

Joy breaks forth in glad surrender
Jesus walks amidst the storm!
Gently He will bear your burden
Trust Him now, no longer mourn.

LET ME CRY ON YOUR SHOULDER

Loneliness met me this morning
Life seemed so empty and gray
Time came along to torment me
Leaving me helpless all day.

I was afraid to go further
Walking this valley alone
Fear and despair my companions
Seeking for grace to be shown.

Then I called out in my anguish
Out of the depth of despair:
"Is there a hand that can rescue
Will you come answer my prayer?"

Please let me cry on your shoulder
Help drive this darkness away
Then I will stand in the sunlight
Knowing real joy for the day.

WHY THIS DISAPPOINTMENT?

There are times in life we carry
Disappointments and distress
And we try to find its meaning
During days of loneliness.

When a pledge for life together

Finds love's dream walk out the door
Bitter anguish knows no measure
As in death, life is no more.

When your dearest friend has failed you

And its tearing you apart
Or you feel you've been forsaken
There's one Friend that won't depart!

You are not alone this journey

These sharp thorns that mark your path
Are like those He bore on Calvary
To prepare you for life's task.

So when disappointments tempt you

To give way to bitterness
Look to Christ the Source of comfort
He'll bring joy and happiness.

WHY END IT ALL?

I WANDER THROUGH MY LIFE ALONE
MY HEAD IS SPINNING OUT IN SPACE
I TRY TO FIGURE WHO I AM
BUT PHANTOMS DANCE BEFORE MY FACE.

I TOUCH THE GUN AND SPIN THE CONE
WITH BULLETS STILL INSIDE THEIR BOX
A LINGERING THOUGHT DARTS THROUGH MY BRAIN
ONE LITTLE SHELL AND NO MORE PAIN!

THE DARKENED MYSTERY OF MY PAST
MY FAMILY'S PLAN TO SHRED MY BIRTH
WITHOUT A MOM OR DAD TO SHARE
AND FOSTER HOMES WHO JUST DIDN'T CARE.

IF DRUGS AND SEX COULD SATISFY
THERE WOULD BE REASON TO GO ON
BUT STOLEN CARS AND NIGHT TIME BARS
WAS FODDER FOR MY EMPTY MOAN.

AND THEN ONE NIGHT WHEN I WAS "HIGH"
MY MIND BEGAN TO FLOAT IN SPACE
WHILE OTHER SPIRITS PASSED MY WAY
REPEATING CRIES I COULD NOT TRACE.

SO THIS IS NOT THE END, I MUSED?
WHILE DRIFTING BACK INTO MY MIND
THEN GUILT AND FEAR TORE ME APART
AS I POURED OUT MY BROKEN HEART.

I FOUND THE LETTER GOD WROTE DOWN
THAT JESUS DIED TO SET ME FREE
THE LOVE THAT BROUGHT SALVATION'S PLAN
I FINALLY UNDERSTOOD FOR ME.

I HAVE A MESSAGE FOR MY FRIEND
LIFE HERE ON EARTH IS NOT THE END
GOD HAS A PLAN FOR YOU IN MIND
RECEIVE HIS GIFT, NEW PURPOSE FIND.

Moments Of Reflection

Tender moments find their meaning
In the little things you do
They're not found in noisy flatter
That too often prove untrue.

Gentle breezes of reflection
Lets the memory find a nest
For the many loving moments
That bring calm within my breast.

Often when the heart feels lonely
Walking down life's thorny path
One can almost hear you whisper
"Through all times my love will last."

So let thoughts of joyous memory
When by distance we're apart
Live in mystery's understanding
That you're always in my heart.

FEELING PAIN

The scent of roses filled the air
It bid me come its fragrance smell
Yet there were thorns that spoke of pain
While taking hold its jagged main.

Twas then I thought of my distress
Of broken dreams and loneliness
The heavy cross I had to bear
With little hope someone would care.

I didn't know why this crushing blow
Became my special guest below
This cup of grief I did not ask
As God's appointment for my task.

But then, a crown of thorns appeared
With visions of His pain to show
That by the crushing on His cross
His stripes and wounds would heal the lost.

So then I bowed in grateful praise
That through my crucible of pain
The sweet aroma from above
Can help those hurting find God's love.

MY EMPTY HEART

Why does my heart seem so empty
Even when life looks so good?
Why does the mist in my spirit
Garner control of my mood?

Is it perchance I am searching
For phantoms just out of my reach
For something to fill up a longing
That no one in this life can breach?

The pot at the end of my rainbow
Seems always to vanish away
Each time that I reach for a nugget
I find nothing coming my way.

Then a small voice seems to whisper
Like the sound of a morning dove
"Nothing compares with the offer
Of God's indescribable love."

So next time my heart starts to hunger
For something to fill up that space,
I'll always remember His offer
To give me His fullness and grace.
